Taking Action on Addiction (TAOA) is a national campaign that also relies upon the spirit and engagement of local communities across the UK.
For example, during this year's Addiction Awareness Week (AAW, 30 November – 7 December, 2024), we’re calling on our towns and cities to get behind the campaign by sharing the message ‘Addiction Affects Everyone BUT Recovery Is Possible.’ But that's not all. We have created a community pack designed to help event organisers to start conversations about their own experiences of addiction whether that's first-hand or through an indirect experience with a family member, loved one - or even a colleague.
Grassroots activities help individuals who may be struggling in silence to open up and share their feelings in a safe, caring environment. And of course, from community comes identification and strength - a huge ingredient in the recipe for change and transformation.
Towns up and down the country are the cornerstone of our campaigning. If you would like to receive a community pack to help guide in your conversation starters.
Whatever social platform you use, our official Social Media Toolkit is the perfect way of showing your support online.
